A danger for worship leaders is not constantly maturing in our faith. When a leader is immature but gifted, compliments will eventually go to their heads. They may believe they are so anointed by God that they should be running the church. There are certain worship leaders qualifications that should be taken into consideration. Also, worship leaders have a lot of influence in the congregation and they should take the responsibility seriously. It is important as a leader to have a mentor to help you grow and become a better leader. We have to be careful to not think our gifts are greater then the Giver of the gifts. If we want to be good worship leaders, we should also have to be good leaders.
I liked that Kraeuter said that we have to be more confident in our God then our gifts. God is the one who gives us gifts, so why should we think we don't need God. Our gifts are given but what is more important is our faith in God and producing fruits instead. Encouragement is great, but we have to be careful to not try to build up another person's ego and make them think they don't need Jesus because they are gifted.
I think it's important when we are trying to mature in our faith that we learn to be humble as well. It's easy to get carried away and lose sight of what's truly important. You need a combination of humbleness, maturity and confidence in order to truly be strong in your faith or at least lead others in worship.
ReplyDeleteI loved what you said, Melinda. I definitely agree that it's more important to be confident in God rather than our gifts. God is the one who gives us our gives so that's so important. Great insight!
ReplyDeleteTrusting on our own ability in music can distract us from the reason why we worship, and that's God. It's a struggle we all might go through, but I like how you stated that we should not make our gifts the show of the worship service.
ReplyDeleteI like how you reiterated that God is the one who gives us our gifts. We need to make sure to live in adoration for the one who gave us everything, instead of running with what we have and taking credit for it.
ReplyDeleteI love it. You make very strong points with a good choice of vocabulary. My only recommendation would be to reiterate your points to create a stronger sense of agreement between readers
ReplyDeleteI loved what you said how we need to find our stability in God because he's the one who can give and take our talents and abilities. The more leadership you are given, God will judge you on a higher standard when you are in front of him on judgement day. So we need to be wise and grateful how we use our influence for his glory and to the best of our ability, being spiritually mature through all of it.
