This article talked about how sometimes when worship, we sing that we are worshipping for God. Sam Storms takes a closer looks at the word for. He talks about how sometimes we worship God because we think that he needs it. However, our attitude should be that we are worshipping God because we are saved by his grace, not that he needs our worship. Basically, this article talks about how we should be humbled by how God wants us but doesn't need us.
I agree with Storms that our attitude should be humble when we lead worship. However, I don't know if I agree with how much Storms looked into the word for. I have performed multiple songs that say the word for, however, I never thought of them as songs that say God needs us. Instead, I thought that we are saying that we are privileged to worship God. However, I do agree that we need to humble about worshipping God.
I liked what Melinda was saying about how we only worship God when we need too, but we need to because he saved us.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed how you really talked about the application of this message to your life. You really talked about how you will or have applied this and i found that most insightful. Overall your summary was really interesting!
ReplyDeleteMelinda!! Great insight!! I appreciate how you wrote about the things you didn't like in the article as well. I agree with you though. I feel like the author analyzed the word "for" way too much.
ReplyDeleteI agree that we are priviledged to worship God. We need God, but God does not need us. I loved reading your reflection.
